Prayer intentions for the week (2009-05-11)

Another week, another set of prayer intentions…

The elderly

On the face of it, old people have it easy – they sit at home doing crosswords, watching daytime TV, drinking cups of tea and buying slippers from the catalogue. However, the reality is that old age isn’t always that great. The elderly are vulnerable, both to the million-and-one ailments that pray on them, and malicious individuals who may seek to exploit them. For some old folk, life can be very lonely as they outlive their partners, friends and sometimes even family.

I’m praying that God makes sure that the elderly are, quite simply, OK.

His Holiness

Benedict XVI

It’s easy to forget that Benedict XVI is 82 years old himself! He’s an old man, yet he’s doing a job that many younger people would struggle with!

Now he’s working his magic in the Middle East, I’m praying that he remains in good health and keeps up the good work.

You can find out more information about Benedict’s visit to the Middle East at this blog: http://benedictinisrael.blogspot.com/
